About the Center for
Foreign Languages Training
Under
the direct guidance of the Department of Foreign Affairs
of the Ministry of Education, the Center for Foreign Languages
Training of GDUFS, founded in 1980, offers English, German,
and French training courses to Chinese scholars and other
personnel who are prepared to go abroad for academic or
other purposes. Meanwhile, the center conducts a program
both for the Guangdong provincial government (starting from
1999) and Guangzhou local government (starting from 1998)
to give English language training to their high-ranking
executives.
At
present, 6.7% of the teaching staff is professors, 40% associate
professors, 33.3% lecturers and 20% assistant lecturers. Many
of them have studied or are studying for PhD or MA. Most have
been sent abroad for further studies. There has emerged a
group of well-trained, experienced and competent teaching
staff. The center also boasts a high-quality, flexible and
vigorous language instruction for various purposes.
Entrusted
by the Ministry of Education, the center is an administrator
of various major national and international foreign language
proficiency tests, including WSK, NAETI, TOEFL, TSE, GRE,
GMAT, TOPE, JPT and DAF. |
